india
Mitra and I made a life-changing 6 month trip to India in 2002/3, staying in Kashmire, Himashal Pradesh, The Punjab, Mombai, Hampi, Goa and Kerala. The purpose of the trip was to take photographs and we usually stayed in one place until we'd exhausted all of the local possibilities. We returned with approximately 25,000 digital images, after continuous editing as we went along and believe me, the editing was brutal! We released three portfolios from the trip, but there is so much rich material yet to mine, with a book planned in the future. Photo-essays showing many different aspects of India (15 years ago), including temples, busy towns and remote villages, portraits, children, poverty, tea plantations, a tea factory, a 'beedi' factory, a silk 'factory', festivals, wildlife and the landscape, the colour, the light...
As part of the set we released these two beautiful photographs by Mitra:
