aluminum
Printing on Aluminum by infusing dyes under heat and pressure directly into specially coated "ChromaLuxe" aluminum sheets, known as 'dye sublimation', is the ultimate in elegant presentation with startling clarity, sharpness, saturation and depth of colour that no other printing process can match. In accelerated testing it has indicated longevity four times that of archivally processed photo papers. Suitable for outdoors display and it has superior flame spread rating for public buildings and spaces.

fine art rag papers
Cold Press BrightAn acid free, 100% cotton rag media with a bright textured finish. This paper has an extremely-high color gamut and black density.
Notes: Introduced by Epson in 2012, this has become a firm favorite paper for printing repros. of paintings - it really makes them "pop"! Achieved through the use of optical brighteners (OBs).* |

Hot Press BrightAn acid free, 100% cotton rag media with a bright smooth finish. This paper has an extremely-high color gamut and black density.
Notes: Launched with the Cold Press Bright, this has become our most popular paper for printing photography, especially black and white - the whites are whiter due to the brightness of the paper and the blacks are richer. As with the Cold Press Bright, it's the optical brighteners (OBs)* that do it.* |

Canvas
BREATHING COLOR LYVE CANVASUnleashed in May 2009 under the bold mantra "Go Live with Lyve", the award-winning Lyve™ Canvas took the printmaking industry by storm. With eye-popping color gamut and Dmax, coupled with critical archival certification and the ability to apply a laminate hassle-free, it set a new standard of exceptionalism in fine art and photographic printmaking. Internally, we refer to this masterful blend of artistry and engineering as "the game changer" that will capture every nuance in your images.
Our "Chromata White" technology gives end-users the most stable platform on which to print photographs and fine art giclees without the metamerism issues or color shift issues inherent on other canvases. Optical Brighteners compromise the attainment of true color, they complicate profiling accuracy, and they inevitably deteriorate and yellow over time. |

The water resistant surface works exceptionally well with Glamour II Veneer, our proprietary water-based top coat designed specifically for our line of inkjet canvas. If coated with Glamour II, this canvas will not crack even under extremely rigorous stretching conditions (canvas gallery wrap).
There's nothing superior to the combination of Lyve and Timeless - both proprietary products that were designed for one another.
Notes: In 2016 we said goodbye Epson Exhibition Canvas, hello "Lyve"! After some issues with Epson canvases, went over to Breathing Color's award winning 'Lyve' Canvas. One troubling thing about the Exhibition canvas was that the bright white base was achieved through unstable Optical Brighteners whereas, as you can read above, Lyve has a bright white base without them. Altogether a superior product! And we are now able to offer a range of 4 finishes, gloss, semi-gloss (our "default" and the most popular), semi-matte and matte, all at one price.
NB: Prints on canvas don't leave us without being sealed with liquid laminate.

BREATHING COLOR "TIMELESS" & "GLAMOUR II" PRINT VARNISHES
Released in March 2010, Timeless is a proprietary water-based, non-yellowing print varnish that has been developed to protect, preserve and enhance fine art and photographic prints produced on digital inkjet printers. Timeless was developed to be a significant upgrade to the available print varnishes on the market today.
Glamour II Veneer, an award-winning and proprietary canvas varnish (and/or giclee varnish), has been developed to protect, preserve and enhance fine art and photographic prints produced on digital inkjet printers. This new non yellowing, water based canvas varnish is a perfect solution for easy inkjet print finishing. Glamour II will enhance the color of pigmented and ultrachrome inks on matte media and increase resistance to image fading. It will protect your expensive images against moisture and abrasion.
Essential On Canvas: Included in the price.
Clear coating is also an option for giclées on paper that are going to be displayed without glass, in order to protect the ink from UV light, moisture, environmental contaminants, and abrasion.

*Optical Brighteners:
We would like our clients to be aware that the Optical Brighteners themselves are not archivally stable. Whilst this technology is contentious within the industry, this is not information that, as far as I know, you will get from Epson (no surprise there). Under the right display conditions they may not noticeably fade for decades but we rarely have control of this variable over the life of a print. If you are concerned about the archival stability/longevity of your prints (two different things) we suggest using media without OBs. For a detailed technical explanation I recommend this article: On the Use of Optical Brighteners in Fine Art Prints and Photographs, by Aardenburg Imaging and Archives. Or give me a call and I'll be pleased to discuss it. (Mark Prior)
